dou·la /do͞olə/ noun: a woman who is trained to assist another woman during childbirth and who may provide support to the family after the baby is born.

 

Research & clinical studies have found that a doula’s presence at birth:

• Tends to result in shorter labors with fewer complications

• Reduces negative feelings about one’s childbirth experience

• Reduces the need for pitocin, extraction and cesareans

• Reduces the mother’s request for medication and/or epidurals

• Parents feel more secure and cared for

• Parents are more successful in adapting to new family dynamics

• Moms have greater success with breastfeeding

• Parents have greater self-confidence

• Less postpartum depression

 

Birth doulas offer:

• Birth education and preparation

• Birth planning (including creating a written birth plan)

• Massage and other comfort measures

• Suggest positions and changes to help facilitate comfort

• Provide reassurance and encouragement

• Removing emotional blockages (through hypnosis)

Being able to be a birth doula for expecting parents is a great gift and joy.  As your doula, I honor your beliefs and desires for your birth.  I believe that a happy baby begins with happy parents.  I offer the following options for you, to tailor your own birthing experience.  I can participate as much or as little as you choose and am extremely non-judgmental when it comes to your birthing choices.  Doula service options:

 

Assistance with creating a birth plan $45

Hypnotherapy for mom (includes complimentary session for birth partner) $250 for 3 Sessions / $475 for 6 Sessions

Meeting to discuss an overview of your birth desires and expectations as well as various birth elements (included)

Attending the birth $375

One meeting following the birth to assist parents with any further information or help (i.e. breastfeeding, baby care, etc.) $45

Organizing a Blessingway Ceremony : Blessingways are a sacred celebration with close friends and family to honor, strengthen, empower and uplift the mother to be $75
